1. What major people, places, concepts, events or things would have influenced the lives of the people in your story? How or why?

Movements like the Pullman Strike, because they worked in a steel factory so strikes like this effected production and transportation of the products.
World War 1 because they were treated differently in America because they were German
Industrialization in America because thats what brought them over from Germany.

2. How might the people in your story have acted differently if they had more information about their setting? What information would have changed their personal history?
They probably wouldn't act to differently because they just wanted a good job to support their family, and thats what they did.

Industrialization in America

What stands out to you about the historical or cultural context of your family story?
It is what happened to a lot of german families at this time and wasn't uncommon.

What stands out to you about the setting of the story?What about the historical or cultural setting seems most relevant to your story?
The fact the steel industry was really increasing in the chicago area and that there were a lot of employees and poor working conditions.
